Normally when I ride Meg, I leave Juno in the field. She doesn't mind being left behind and is a good girl at waiting for Meg to return.
Today was slightly different as my daughter H wanted to have a sit on the old girl, and if she wants to do that then Iam happy. Hopefully it means in time her confidence will grow and she may want to do more. (She has been under no pressure since giving up riding 2 months ago to return to it).
So H leads Juno in (quite a walk from field to stable area) and I lead Meg in. Within 30 secs of starting our walk Meg grows a few hands and is becoming a madam! Little toad. I nearly got pushed into, pulled and all the works. Luckily I know she CAN be like it so I just laugh at her while she is getting cross. Get down to the stables and Juno is waiting patiently while the chldren oil her feet and brush her tail - Meg on the other hand is getting bigger and bigger and very 'stallionish'. She starts shaking too getting herself totally wound up. Quick groom not problem but as soon as I even look at Juno Meg starts again. Tack up and get on Meg while my mum leads Juno ahead of me. Meg by this time is throwing all her toys out of her pram. Go into the arena like a woman posessed. Took 20 mins of pure trotting and changing direction before Meg finally settled. I then jumped her over the course that was up and I nearly got ejected into orbit as her jumps were huge today!
Finished her, and got off to lead Juno riderless over some small poles (just giving her a bit of fun). Juno loved it but clearly it wasn't acceptable for Meg as her wicked behaviour started all over again!
Eventually turned them back out in their field, and Meg stood by the gate sulking. Juno walked off, and I bet Meg was thinking of her naughty behaviour!
They both love their routines and hate it when we change it. Juno's job is a field ornament - clearly!

Sorry that got a bit long!

My horse doesnt get jealous if i do things with other horses as he doesnt like a lot of fuss from anyone including me, but if i dare to pay any attention to the yard cat in his vicinity he goes a bit nuts and practically throws himself over the stable door to say hey i want the attention! Wierd horse that he is.

Very, never known a horse like it.

If I go in the field, he'll keep all other horses away...even goes for the ones in the other field over the fence, nothing is allowed near me.

He'll wait at the gate and spy on me in the yard while I'm tacking/grooming up the mare...he could be there for hours, then he'll start banging his foot on the gate for attention.

If I sit on the gate and talk to him, he'd stay with me all night.

I think jealous is not really the word to use for him, think it's more possessiveness and showing the other hoses who's boss to be honest.

Not to that extent. Jazzy gets slightly fidgety if I talk to another horse before him on the yard. Mouse would go to the extent of kicking the **** out of the door with his front legs. I just totally ignored him.

Depends how much Juno is going to be used as to how much I'd worry about it. Silly Meg!

I have a very jeaslous horse too, i only have to look at another horse and she starts neighing at me and trying to come to me, even if someone else is with her she still dos it. Its really not very helpful at times.

Yep, they both adore each other but they also think THEY should be the centre of attention.

Toby is the ridden horse as see that as HIS activity. I've been riding piper round the field occasionally (starting to break him) and Toby is getting very cross about it, so much so I've had to tie him up. Otherwise he glues himself to Piper and spends his time trying to push me off

Piper on the other hand sees ground cuddles as HIS department. Toby goes away for his attention but in the field, when I'm on the ground, I'm his and Toby should not be allowed to join in.

Yep. Tilly will often chase Fidley away as she wants time with mummy. (Until Fidley came along, Tilly wa squite happy to have NO attention spent on her and wasn't fussed about mummy time). Now though, she is sooo affectionate towards me and at the gate eagerly awaiting.

When I'm not there, they are the best of friends!

Yes my mare does. She pulls the most evil faces if I talk to any of the other stabled horses and if I dare to talk to any people before going to see her she whinnies until I go and say hello. She isn't vocal any other time. Mind you I have had her since she was 6 months old and she is now 14 so we have a strong bond between us.

Yes, in fact nearly got kicked by her on Sunday - was passing the field and went in to give her a pat and say hello. Another innocent soul decided to pass by too close and she went to go for him - ears flat back and horrid face. I was slightly in front of her and she nearly booted my leg in the process. Fortunately she's not that daft and a quick "OY!" stopped her in her tracks!
