Thank you all so much.

Lorry not helping with a duff battery (mechanic slow getting replacement) but charging up the one gd battery tonight and may have to jump start it tomorrow as our appointment with the vet is 12pm . Bloods and other test tomorrow then starving for Thursday for the scope..

Currently acting normally, but thinking back to last Wednesday when the trainer rode him his breathing for very noisy, she said prob due to not been ridden much on the bit for quite a while (1 year) as young girl rides him on a long rein. This could be linked to this fit though will mention that to vet too, all helps

Oooh that has triggered a thought for me

I’d say working in a firm outline suddenly might well cause a compression in the neck or poll

That might be your cause right there

I've just had a chance to watch the video - to reassure you the fits I witnessed were much much more violent than that - pony collapsed fully quite quickly to the floor all four legs thrashing (smashed a hole in the wooden stable) neck extended at a funny angle, eyes rolled back in her head but open. The first one the poor thing smashed her head on the wall and cut herself. shaking all over

It's a great example of why having this on video will be so useful for your vet to really understand what happened.

This looks quite back end focused and he never really loses control. Hopefully nothing too nasty

Well he is up there, lorry trouble but hey ho, they will do some test this afternoon and starved over night. He got upset when the other mare left, as she was only having navicular injections so she came home. I hate leaving my boy there, when I have no clue what is happening to him.

Some reassurance from others and from the Westgate lab website, the Animec wormer I used did not do tape worm, so wondering if that could be a symptom, which is weight loss, took a while to loose his coat.

Also doing a cushings test again, in case that is starting.

Ty all

Well collected him this afternoon, he was pleased to see the lorry passing his window, and was calling and calling out to me awwwwwwwwwwwwww.

So far what we know, is he has some ulcers, and has been sent home with medication, a weekly vet injection. New regime for food and haylage. Another gastroscope in 4 weeks.

Still waiting for bloods to return and result of tape worm.

At least my gut was right telling me high probable it's ulcers due to his symptoms, and improvement on protexin

I know we cannot explain gut feelings. I rarely ignore it.

It doesn't look like a fit to me do you think perhaps the ulcers were giving him a sharp pain of some sort? Or even the hard schooling session could have triggered off some pain, it does look like something was going on in his back end all of a sudden and he was responding to it.

I hope you manage to get to the bottom of it and it doesn't happen again.

That sounds positive, it's easy to see how what he did could have been an attempt to run away from sharp stomach pains. Let's hope that's all it was.

I genuinely believe my guy’s was the cause of pain, let’s hope it’s the same for your guy and he can get fixed up.

It could be pain, but vet said a fit - and i think the vets and I will be happier once we have all the bloods and tape worm test in.

I have to feed him haylage first and feed after which is the reverse of our normal routing. Apparently haylage makes them produce more saliva so the acid is less likely to splash up the stomach walls and neutralises it - then feed after. Hardest thing is making his powder into a paste and syringe it in him 1/2 hr before the feed as well as feeding the yard and the morning duties.

We do these things for the horses we love.

My boy:

Your mine and I love you
I will stand by you through sickness and health.
I will nurse you and wait on you in your time of need
See you get what you need to get better, even if I have to do without in the mealtime.
Your my life and your worth it
You will get the very best and I will see to it.
Your mum is sadly no longer with us,
I cannot ever take her place.
Though I am sure I love you as much as she did.
She would be is happy I am standing in when she cannot.

Bless him I have never seen anything like that and I would be very upset if I did. Did you see how he went to the mirror for reasurance after. Lovely pony and I hope you get to the bottom of the problem and the ulcer meds do the trick fingers crossed for him to get better soon.

Just to say it doesn’t necessarily mean the end of his ridden career completely

There’s a specialist neurologist at the London vet school who could probably advise further but I carried on riding mine after his seizures (not directly after obviously)
