My horse has a lump...

... On her 'point of buttock' to be technical just to the right of her tail. It is the size of a mans fist! Can fly bites get this big? Or is it likely to be something else. An abcess perhaps? It's not excessively hot, or at least it wasn't last night... I am about to head there now. It's between squishy and firm neither one or the other really. Very painful, tried to boot me. I can see no hard bits/entry zone on it. Put a warm flannel on it last night. Your thoughts good people as to what it may be

What does your vet think it is?

I've not yet contacted the vet. Do not worry i will. But last night it certainly wasn't a emergency for an out of hours call

I would get the vet to check it out, I could be many things and seeking expert advice will ensure that you don't waste time.
