My horse has locked his jaw

I no this should be in vetinary but i thought i'd get more replies here.
My pony Tommy who's 5 and hasn't had a bit in his mouth much before. Has today got a problem with his mouth. He was fine when put in his stable but when i went to feed him today he could open his mouth properly, but he didnt seem in pain he wanted to eat. Almost as if it had locked shut. Gradually it started to open a bit but not fully.. Has anyone got any ideas what it could be? And how it was caused?

Bloody hell! Is he up to date with his tetanus?????

I would check him in the morning and if still the same, get the vet out asap to be sure he's ok.

Although What has he been doing before you stabled him and what bit have you been using.

Lockjaw is a clinical sign of Tenanus. Is he stiffening and not moving around much?

My initial thought was tetnus.Get the vet ASAP

He's not stiff he went out for a graze in hand and was eating loads and was trotting around my yard without me asking.
