My horse has turned tank :s

My cob has turned into a bit of a tank.

hes had a bit of time off and ive started riding him again this week. yesterday in the arena he was fine in walk, but when i was trotting he was ok until i tried to make downwards transition to walk, where it'd take about half the arena before he actually would. oh but i can steer.

Now hes ridden in an eggbutt snaffle which ive always used (except when hunting).

So do I go for a different bit, if so which one? or has anyone got any other suggestions? Dont want to start damaging his mouth.

can you lunge him to get him back into work ? May take some of the cheekiness out.. sm x

We use a loose ring french link and I find it works quite well - or a hanging cheek french link.

I also agree try lunging. Or take him for a blast

hes not great on the lunge really, would love to take him for a blast - hope the cut the stubble field this week.
