So what exactly does one do with a horse thats meant to be retired but is soooo determined that the retired life isn't for her that she takes herself xc?!
Gaaah the stooopid beast! Was sat having a coffee after a very successful dressage lesson on the young man when madam begins cantering round field, bucking and generally being a show off, I shout at her to stop it so she comes trotting over to fence, wickers at me, looks very mischieviously at me and she truly couldnt have communicated better 'watch this then mum' tosses her head and takes off again at a gallop down to bottom of field bucking and leaping and then procedes to jump the xc fences flat out and looking rather chuffed with herself!
Once she had shown me exactly how good her jumping skills were she settled down and I went to finish some jobs.
Fast forward 2 hours or so I go out to poo pick the field and she comes over looking rather sheepish and sorry for herself. Solo xc had obviously been a bit hazardous, she had pulled a front shoe and the nails had mangled her back leg so I've just spent ages cleaning and dressing some rather nasty wounds. She was soooooooo lucky I still turn her out in boots though as the strike pad on her cut leg has a gash out of it 2 inches long and through to the neoprene right over the fetlock joint, it made me cringe when I saw it, would have been a majorly nasty injury if it was her leg!
