When I first introduced Ellie to a Likit, she ran a mile from it - wouldnt stand next to it, wouldnt lie down whilst it remained in her stable; she was just terrified of it. Now, after several mediation sessions, Ellie loves her Likits so much that pretty soon I found I needed a mortgage to keep her in supply of them

So I thought I would buy a Boredom Breaker - the ball with a space for a Little Likit either side - thinking that it might slow her down, as it is harder for her to lick whilst it moves around. (And, unlike many horses, she has not yet managed to work out that if you pin Likits against the wall, you can eat them even quicker!)

Well, my plan went awry, because she uses them up quicker now than she did before I bought the bloody BB

The mare is obsessed! I couldnt possibly deny her now though, she gets so excited when she sees I've bought her some new ones!

PS. We've tried swedes as a cheaper alternative - my old horse Mickey used to devour them within half a minute, but her Ladyship doesnt like them

Well..............

Mint is her absolute favourite, closely followed by Apple. She always told me she did not like Cherry at all, so I bought her one yesterday to spite her, thinking ha! it will still be there in the morning.....but more fool me. She has now decided she doesnt mind Cherry either! Banana was a hit last week, but she is less partial to Carrot!

Oh yes, and you know the Likits that arent Likits (cant remember who they're made by, the name escapes me!)? Ellie cannot STAND Garlic & Parsley!

Funny, my horses aren't so keen on the Codlivine pretend lickits either! They all have a thing about banana lickits tho and having tried licking one myself I can see why

Codlivine....thats the one!

Haha....glad to know I'm not the only one who has tried....erm....'licking'....

Ronnie's a Likit-monster too! I have to limit him to one a week. His favourite flavours are cherry and banana. He likes Carrot too, but tries to chomp those rather than lick. He does like mint.

Bless them. I haven't tried a swede yet as I can't seem to find any anywhere!

Do you test them first? I do. I particularly like the Cherry, Cerys isn't so keen. There is a mint one hanging now which has been up for a couple of days but I suspect thats more to do with the fact that we fiunally have some grass which is much better (she has free access to her stable). We've never tried Banana..... Carrot isn't so nice but Cerys loves apple. Her all time favourite was the Honey and Camomile but I can't find it anywhere now.

Ha ha, Olympic will eat about 1/3 then he won't touch it! The Likit will then pass onto Missy and 2 bites later and it's in bits on the floor!

I will admit to having a cherry likit that I refuse to let the horses have because it's so yummy

My boy loves them too. Before they had the little likit you put in the balls his record for demolishing one of the larger ones you slot in with a plastic top and bottom was .... wait for it....... 45 seconds!!!!! The whole lot was gone in under two minutes so I stopped giving them to him.

Then they brought out little likits - great I thought so I bought him a hanging ball. These would last about 15 minutes as he would wedge them against the wall and scrape/bite down with his top teeth!!

Then they brought out a new hanging ball where the little likit is recessed into the ball and now I hang them from the beam in the middle of his stable so he cant wedge it against the wall. Because they are recessed he can't scrape/bite them anymore either and he actually has to lick them. So now they last about an hour before every scrap is gone!!!

Least favs are apple and mint and favourites are banana and cherry!

B is the same. He had one in his stable for about a year and would not touch it. All of a sudden he ate it and ever since he loves them. He can eat one in about 5 mins, he gets the whole thing in his mouth then bites it in half so it falls off the holder

Gave him a swede and he ate the 1st few, now he knows if he leaves it long enough it will shrivl up and he gets a lickit instead.

I have now bought him one of those stable horselix with the bars across the top, lasts much longer

i had a pony that used to demolish likits in 2 bites. so we only gave her one on a saturday. the YO used to be kept awake with the sound of the ball hitting the wall and the other one being twisted around on the wall.

Yup. One of mine had a record of 5mins. Thats it hanging in the middle of the stable, no way to wedge it against anything, she's just got the knack.

Only gets one once in a while. Her fav is the strawberry or cherry - cos she like pink!! (which I hate)
