Mattie decided he was going to go for a roll, in a patch of nettles!

There is a small patch of nettles about a metre by a metre and he chose to roll there...He has a 12 acre paddock!

He came up in a massive rash and was very very distressed. He reared at me and bucked and kicked out and he nearly got me. I thought he'd banged his had and had brain damage, he was leaning away from the pain and looked like he was going to fall over. He looked drunk.
So i managed to get a box to bring him up to the yard (hes in a field down the road) and rang the vet.

The vet couldn't make it for an hour, by that time he'd calmed down and the rash was going and when she checked him, all his vitals were fine, good salmon colour on his gums, temperature fine and gave him a shot of steroids and some bute.
Also told me it was nice to see a horse in near perfect condition.

But...I've never been so frightened in my life, I thought I'd lost my boy forever.

Really horses are challenged in the brain department aren't they! Glad he is ok (and you are too!)

Oh dear, daft thing. Hopefully he will have associated the pain with the rolling spot and make a wiser choice next time. Glad he's ok now. As for you, i think a nice glass of wine and some chocolate may be the answer. But then again i always say that's the cure for anything
