all summer, when there's no grass, he comes to call. all winter when he's hungry, he comes to call. the past couple weeks he's been stuffing his face with far too much grass and simply cant be bothered to move his lazy bum when i call him. so, its a case of trekking half a mile up the field to fetch him. saturday, my 7 yr old son came with me and called to Ben. now Ben doesnt really know my son, as he doesnt ride or do much other than climb the apple trees while i feed and groom. so, guess what horse does? comes trotting down to meet my son at the gate. humph.

i've just been down to put Ben's pyjamas on and as my son has been off school, he came too. i waded thru the mud and up the field with rug and brush in hand. then started to groom His Royal Grumpiness. i put the brush down and went to pick up the rug, turned round to find he's buggered off down the field to the gate where my son is now standing. double humph.

so, off i go, trekking back down the field where son and horse are having a moment of love and affection to chuck rug on my traitorous neddy. i go to give him a hug and pat goodbye and he tries to nip my arm. ungrateful git.

Cardboard cut-out of son at the gate every day should do the trick! They are very ungrateful aren't they? I had horses complaining of starvation a few days ago so thought I would be nice and put a round bale of hay out in the field for them to stave off the rumbly tummies and ....they ignore it and go eat grass. Now they are apparently non-starving and perfectly satisfied while I wonder what on earth goes through their heads.

Sweet though that your ungrateful git loves your son! :)

yup,
i go down min of twice a day & feed/hay them, tis dim wit here that lugs water from home for thwm so they dont have to brave the river stuff & likewise the one that trudges about in pournig rain & wind moving the electric so they can have fresh grazing but OH comes down & there they are all sweetness at the gate for him GRRR.

My horse who's out 24/7 and as fat as butter always thinks he's starving no matter if I'm early or late.

Ears back everytime, then when he's eaten it all, the begging for more face comes.

so is mine! I do everything for him but he is funded by my mother (ducks) He is PERFECT for everyone, and i mean EVERYONE, the noisey 8 year old, he usually winces when he hears her but when she v kindly said she'd get him in the other night when it was P155ing it down and i was in my suit- he went straight to her, stuck his head in the head collar etc etc
my dad who calls him "Donk" ( i wont go into his breeding but donk he is not!!!!)
my sister who squeels at him if he goes to close cos he smells, she's such a princess!

get the picture?

God forbid i ask my mum to bring him in on a Sunday evening, he sees her coming and runs off and then runs around, on the occassion she manages to get him or gets help from someone else so she can get him he is gaurenteed to bite her. he's never as much showed me his teeth! Talk about biting the hand that feeds....

I have 4 dogs and 4 horses that think the sun shines out of his ****. Yet I'm the one who feeds and clean them out and walk the dogs 5 days a week and not a tweety bird in the car. Come the weekends, I have to put them in the car, as he's useless and when I come out of the house not a noise, as soon as he steps out of the door way, they go ape, all the way to the stables, so he takes them for an hours walk while I feed round and muck out and in the evenings when he gets home from work, they fight over who sits next to him on the sofa, so he has to sit in the middle for some peace and I'm left sitting on my own.:o:o:(:(:(:mad::mad:

haha mine too!!!!
My hubby visits said horse maybe once a fortnight - but my god you should see the welcome he gets!!!
Horse can be at top of field and my hubby whistles - he comes runnng down!
Now i cant whistle so hubby bought me a metal one - do i get the welcoming trot ???? - hell no,
if his lordship is hungry its a slow winding walk - if hes full up - no chance, then its chase
Ungrateful animals!!!!
