OK so we have dressage at Hickstead on Saturday, which happens to be the most high caliber thing he has been to in terms of dressage (It's a championship).

He has his own 'regime of preparation' in place it seems: Yesterday I get there and the paddock is covered in 'skid/hoof' marks - Evidently he has been having fun and games. He fell over apparently amidst all these high jinks.

Today I lunge him in side reins, he is lovely to begin with, relaxed and rhythmical. Then decides he has never seen the cones in the corner that live there 365/days a year. Puts in a massive sideways spook, followed by great acceleration. One of his hinds slips under him and he's pretty much sitting on his back legs.

I despair! I hope he'll be in one piece by Saturday.

Try telling him it's cancelled - maybe then he won't feel the need to break himself!!!

Good luck for Saturday

Thank you very much.

I dunno what is up with him - He's on virtually no hard feed! I think it's the joys of spring and more to the point, spring grass!
