My horse is broken - any ideas?

My horse has been lame for the last week. Was shod on wednesday, seemed alright before but I can't be 100% certain as I didn't ride him on tuesday.

He's head nodding lame on a circle in trot, worse on the left rein and I'm pretty sure its his front nearside leg. He's vritually ok in a straight line. I've not rode him since wed and he's been out in a smallish paddock on his own.

Farrier came back on saturday, took shoe off had a good check and couldn't find anything. So now I am worried that there is something more serious going on because there has been no improvement at all. Vet coming on thus - another couple of days for me to convince myself he's broken for good.

Is he worse on a soft surface when you lunge him? Try lunging him on a hard surface and see how he is then. Im no vet, but it sounds similar to the probelm my horse had, worse on one rein, not really lame on a straight line but bad on a circle, better on a hard surface - and my vet think he has over-stretched his suspensory. He had a cortazone injection, 2 weeks box rest, being ridden on roads from the box in walk only and he now seems better. Obviously - yours could be completely different so please dont worry - although would be interested to know what your vet says and what his diagnosis/treatment is.
 
QR: Sounds exactly the same as my horse at the moment. Sound trotting in a straight line on hard and soft and lame on a circle. My vet also said its his suspensory.

Im off to newmarket on Monday for further examination. I have no idea what has caused it or how bad it is.

He also has a problem in his back which is the main reason for going to newmarket.

Hopefully your vet will diagnose the problem and start the repair/recovery process. Good luck and i hope its not too bad.

He seems worse on hard ground, although our arena is quite deep sand its less noticeable when I lunge him in there as opposed to in the field (ground is very hard in there at mo).
 
Also - interestingly the field is on a very very slight slope and when I'm lunging him and he's on the downhill bit its worse than when he's trotting into the uphill bit???!
