My horse is going crazy being kept in :(

Ok.. they all live out normally unless it's extreme weather (even in the quite boggy fields- they normally stay out!) but its flooded again- the river burst its banks and more rain on its way .
They came in all day today to lie down and have a sleep in the dry, they love coming in for a couple of hours and stand neighing if they don't ! but after about two hours and their food- they want to get back out again, by this time it was quite flooded already and had to keep them in.

Now my horse is standing at his door trying to figure out how to unlock it and getting annoyed so taking his frustration out on his bedding! (I have put a clip on the door!) I hate keeping horses in, but with more rain forecast tomorrow morning it seems they may in a bit longer what can I do to keep the poor thing sane? I do feel very cruel right now! He has lots of hay and a stable mirror, plus a salt lick but he's ignoring them and focusing on being p*ssed off

How about scattering some food like mix, carrots, parsnips ect over the floor (or around the edges!) so he has to search for them? Its gona take him 20 minutes if that but its worth a go?

Failing that let them out

TBH, if he's got forage, water and a good bed plus the box is totally secure and safe, I'd tell him tough luck, he's stopping in and he'd better get used to it. He has everything he needs and he'd better learn some manners after all, what would happen if he had to have box rest for some reason; tell him to grow up and leave him to it.

Maybe he is being a bit of a spoilt brat as he's quite pampered (in a horsey way, not a human way!) But he doesn't understand at the moment what is going on so I can't blame him for it! So if he needs to stay in any longer hopefully he will get used to it - he will have to after all,

Hopefully will be somewhere to turn out but looking doubtful! usually end up with a moat around the stable yard which can be 3ft deep may have a good trotting up session in the morning! This looks like a good Christmas eh !
