She changes her personality totally according to what she is being asked to do, and according to who is on her back !

This afternoon, I took my daughter up to see the Moose, as she'd just had a riding lesson and was fired up for all things horsy ! Caught B, and brought her in fine, tied her up and gave her a good groom, and gave daughter a chance to use her new pink body bush with a horse on

At this point, the Moose went to sleep....

Daughter went off to the car to find her riding hat, and B took fright at something, freaked out,. pulled back and broke her headcollar ! I've no idea what scared her, but i calmed her down, tacked her up (with all the usual face-pulling on her part) and took her in the school to be lunged, SHe was completely daft on the lunge, hooleyed around a bit and at one point rodeoed around like a bronco! After a while she settled right down and worked nicely, though.

My daughter loves sitting on B, and was badgering me for a ride at that point. i was a bit reluctant given the hooleying and bucking, but thought at least i'll be right there and can catch her if she comes off. Well. From being a silly hooleying idiot, Brook went straight to being a donkey on a rope, and plodded around the school with P on her back like an absolute angel.

She drives me up the wall sometimes, and she can be the most aggravating horse to ride as she can be silly and jumpy and she's quite sharp...but put a little five year old on her back and she's a dobbin. I think its wonderful how she can tell the difference and how careful she is around children.

Its amaing how horses are good like that. When I was very young my parents had a super looking 17.3 show hunter. He looked stunning, but was always far to sharp to do well at the top level. I remember riding him round, off the lead rein just for a bit of fun at about 7. We also had a 16.3 BSJA come BD warmblood who we got as a project. I was a very small 12 year old, and my feet didn't come past the saddle flaps, and he wouldn't even trot with me on he was so chilled, yet with a proper rider he was difficult.

Our first horse had spent most of his life as a landeau horse in blackpool, so would never ride at the side of the road. However if our friends little girl was with us when we were leading him home from the field, he not only walked at the side, but also on one occaision got hold of her hood and pulled her furthe rinto the side as a car was passing

I have to get together with the instructor before a lesson and decide on code words coz B learnt the words trot, canter etc and when she says them B immediately started napping etc. Blooming horse has even learnt where C and E are in the school!!
