I went to take my horse for a hack today but as soon as we started to trot he was noticably head nodding and dipping over his left fore. Took him back to the yard and got yard manager to look. Checked his legs but could find no heat, swelling, adhesions, cuts etc. So I cold hosed him anyway for 15mins then put some ice gel on his legs, bandaged them and put him in his stable. I considered walking him in hand later but decided against it as didn't want to make him worse, but will walk him out tomorrow a few times and possibly turn out depending on lameness so he doesn't stiffen up and to help with circulation. I expect he may have tweaked a muscle as I loose schooled him yesterday and he went a little crazy though seemed fine at the time. He went out in the field this morning (before I discovered he was lame) but he didn't do much so I doubt this caused it. Do you think I'm doing the right thing? He's never been lame before and is generally quite hardy, but he is not majorly lame or uncomfortable looking, hopefully it will go away in a few days.

Poor horsey and you! Have you checked his feet as lameness is 90% in the foot, see if you can find discolouration for bruises or an abscess, maybe an idea to get farrier out and try a poultice for 24 hrs. Hope he is better soon.
