After a cracker of a concert last night (and half a bottle of red wine consumed in an hour
) I had a bit of a lie in this morning. got up at 9 and went up to my parents house to ride etc. After a lengthy conversation with my mother about my darling horse's recent behaviour (more later), I had a short ride, then pulled his mane, fed them, turned them back out then did yard jobs like cleaning out the haylage store ready for the bedding to be delivered on monday, tidied the feedshed etc, shouted at a hen that tried to kill itself (more on that too), mucked out the stables, and removed 4 labradors worth of hair from the labrador then tootled home to buy a new teapot and get ready to go out tonight. so been quite a good day really!
My horse is sooo naughty.... he's started larking about with my Dad when he turns them out. Dad always lets tom go first or Ron bullies him. Then when he goes to let Ron off, he squeals, and either goes up or flings his head about. Anyway, having smacked him for going up the other day that seems to have resolved, but he flung his head about so hard yesterday that he headbutted my dad, and cracked two teeth and a filling!
Then Ron shot backwards knowing he shouldn't have headbutted Dad, and yanked Dad's shoulder and hurt his back.
My Hen tried to kill itself.... whilst cleaning the haylage store I found Dad had put rat poison blocks under the pallets to make sure we don't get rats again this year. as I went to empty the barrow I stupidly left the door open and came back to find one of the hens beating the proverbial out of one of the blocks! Fortunately I don't think she got any off, or if she did it was only a tiny tiny amount. She was fine when I left this afternoon, but definitely peed off with me for shouting at her! Last thing I need is another hen dying - we lost one of the girls in the high winds the other week when she was blown off her perch
RIP ginge. the other 2 are pretty stupid even for hens, so god knows what the next trick is.
off out shortly for a girly night out in York with friends
might never surface again, knowing what these lot are like!
