I love Charlie to bits, but my god he can be an idiot sometimes... He is a young, dumb warmblood, so I shouldn't be suprised, but usually the only clue as to his lack of brain is a slightly vacant expression...

But yes, I was feeling a bit under the weather, and Charles had to be excercised, so I decided to go for a nice, relaxing hack... He's normally pretty much bombproof and a complete angel, so we were pootling along on a long rein, on a quiet lane, when he saw... A dog walker!! Cue spinning on the spot (had no idea such a big beastie could be so agile, god knows how I stayed on) and GALLOPING, head on, towards an oncoming car. The driver realised what was happening and slammed on the brakes, I was trying to stop him with one rein and all my strength, but he has slow reactions... For a second I truly thought I was a goner :o Luckily the car managed to stop, and I managed to stop stoopid horse... But it was VERY close :S

He was a nervous wreck for the rest of the ride, I just about managed to stop him spinning again but he can be veeeeery strong when he's in this mood... Had a couple more sticky moments, every one of his muscles was completely tense and his eyes were bulging out and he was behind the leg the whole time... Also spooking RIDICULOUSLY and DRAMATICALLY at stupid things, like a bit of mud on the road... But we survived, thank god! Took him in the school when I got home, and after about half an hour and one attempt at trying to chuck me off, managed to get some sort of sense out of him... SO yes. What a nice relaxing afternoon. I'm still feeling a little shaky!! Going to take him for a LOOOOONG trot tomorrow, try and burn off some of this nervous energy, that's if he doesn't manage to kill me first...

Horses eh, why do we bother!! :D
