My horse just belched

Hi guys, this is the second time this has happened. I quite clearly heard the air come up and it stank to be honest. Is this a sign of something ? She hadn't just eaten , she was in her stable at the time. She had been a little tense ten minutes before as there was a digger working near . Any ideas ?

Mine does this all the time, usually just after a feed though, and usually right in my face Doesn't usually smell bad though, just of horse breath.

I used to have a horse that did it, he was abit of a thug I think he would of spat on the floor if he could!!

My mare does this repeatedly every day when the spring grass is through. It's so embarrassing and it's LOUD too!! I was really concerned and asked my vet about it and she just laughed and told me not to worry!

Ah thanks i feel less concerned now. She did it again after that i put that post. The fact that its might be grass related makes sense as i let out the electric fence a bit this morning to keep them distracted as we're having some work done.

I would say that your horses stomach has been hard at work trying to digest Dr Green and there is a lot of gas in there! Just monitor her and see how she is, a bit of lunging or riding will help to get rid of the build up of gas. My horse does this sometimes when he has lots of gas but he suffers from spasmodic gassy colic at this time of year so I have to keep a close eye on things.

Yes, there must be quite a build up of gas for this to happen surely.

My feeling is that it comes from the throat not deep in the stomach...in my horse anyway. It seems more like an air bubble caught.
