My horse my have a pollen allergy, can you recommend a good supplement

Hi, I had the vet out to my boy today. She suspects he may have a pollen allergy. Ive kept his fly mask on for 24hrs for a week (only taking it off to ride)..and his eyes are still a bit weepy..I also noticed his breathing change after we've been for a canter. The vet has prescibed some antibiotic drops for his eyes as she thinks he could have mild conjunctivitus aswell. Does anyone else have this problem? as the vet seemed a bit vague and said theres nothing she can recommend for a pollen allergy.

Can't offer a solution but yes, cob I share also has a problem with allergy to pollen. Least I think that's what it is. I noticed him doing lots of head shaking and then he'd try to scratch his nose on the ground. Also lots of nose blowing
It always happened after we got to the paths where there was lots of long grasses and cow parsley. Tried rubbing Vaseline in his nose but think someone suggested using nylon tights as a dust mask we've not tried that yet

He's just on grazing now but will see how he goes once the pollen situation worsens and perhaps try the stuff you mentioned. Ta

I use hay fever nasal spray on my horse (beconase). I find by shielding her eyes when I spray it into her nose that she doesn't over react and accepts it quite willingly.

I give mine human hayfever tablets in the summer months to prevent / limit the effects of hayfever.

I use cetirizine hydrochloride which is a piriton substitute I believe, and I give him 8-10 a day (as advised by the vet)

You can buy them in bulk for pennies per tablet from websites such as pharmacyfirst, chemist4u, chemistdirect etc. I usually shop around to see which has the best prices, many of them limit how many packs you can buy at a time.

I tried everything for my old boy, the only thing that worked was human hayfever tablets and a fly mask. I used to buy Piriton on line 500 tabs for £11 (last year). A tub would last about 2 -3 months. I tried every supplement going for pollen allergies and non worked.
You can buy them online quite cheap!

Not daft at all, in my experience yes it does. My cob went from laid back to half dead when i used Piriton!!
