My horse soaks his haylage (video)

Pretty pointless post really but i thought i would share what i saw this evening with you guys .
With how dry its been this yr i have been feeding haylage at night in my field, I have been wondering why on earth my young geldings water is literally full of haylage every morning..now i know why !! How funny :)
I actually also found one of his over reach boots in there to this morning !! he he

My mare does this too ... soaks her hay in her stable water bucket. Strangely, she only started doing it the winter before last. It's a relief to know she isn't the only one!
 
Funny little thing, My mums mare does this too, we find most of her hay in her water bucket, which has soaked all the water up, which is a bit worrying as she'l have nothing to drink all night!
 
Dunking hay can be a sign that teeth need doing. Having said that one of mine does it all the time & his teeth are fine.

I used to look after a showjumper who used to put all his hay in his bucket and leave it to soak for a bit before eating it :confused: He even did this after we had soaked it for him strange animal :rolleyes:
