..........they re-arranged the fencing! One particular corner of one of the paddocks was getting really boggy and deep, so I fenced it off and turned the electricity on for a while so that they got the message. Did they?
Oh no, they WANTED to stand up to their ankles in mud and so the little darlings (I didn't call them that as I watched from the window) have just walked straight through two strands of tape wired to the mains and are now standing back in their bog! Why do I bother? They can jolly well stand there now if that's what they want.

haha, sods law! my shetland pony runs so fast thru electic tape he doesnt feel a thing. i just have to let him go where he wants! do u not find that common with horses tho. mine always want out, so i turn them out and the barge at the gate desperate to get back in again. i cant please them!

I had to laugh, mine do exactly the same. One mare suffers with mud fever and insists on standing in it all day. The others are wise enough to move away from the mud. Annoying are'nt they.

To be honest I don't think Robin even felt the zap, she's a dear, sweet mare but she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. She pushed the tape with her nose first and just sort of shook her head a little then carried straight on through, her partner in crime, a dainty little arab, did a sword dance kind of routine over the tangled mess, took up her position and went back to sleep.

This total disregard for electricity is why they are in bare paddocks at the moment, I have loads of grass here but no solid fencing yet and as nothing is fenced here if they got out, and they would, I'd be chasing them for miles over corn fields. It's like this on three sides of us, the other is forest.

My old horse used to pick the pigtails up with his teeth and gently put it on the ground. Would do this for 2 or 3 pigtails and then step over the tape on the ground! He was so cheecky but we all loved him (and miss him).
