Hello I just want some advice. My horse was in the field she was fine and sound but my other horse got taken away bc she passed. The next day I went up there and she could not walk to me! Her hock was swollen and a tiny bit of heat. I have kept her in since then she can now walk on it better but her hock is still swollen and I think there might be some fluid in there. There are no cuts or anything so it can’t be infected. I think she may have knocked it or hurt it while running around while my other horse left?
Any advice? Vet can’t come out today.

Box rest until vet can assess, and probably x ray.

ETA- i would not leave this over the weekend. Can they not come out today at all? Youll have a cheaper visit fee today rather than needing them out over the weekend

Non-weight bearing lame is always a veterinary emergency and should be seen asap. It sounds like you have left it too long already, get the vet.

Sorry you had such a bad day. Bad enough to lose one horse, without more drama.

I would advise another call with the vet as it is Friday - you don't want to leave it over the weekend.
Has she been 100% weight bearing on that leg, even if reluctant to move?

How old is she?
I found one of mine with a huge hock and very hot - phoned the emergency vet and had a long (flappy owner) talk - she was happy it could wait until the morning because he was weight bearing.
Turned out he had aggravated some underlying arthritis. She could see why I phoned in a flap as it was huge.

get vet asap, any joint stuff is too risky to delay on. it can make a massive difference in outcome being treated early. for an infection it doesn't even need to be a cut, one of mine got a joint infection from a thorn that pierced and came out again. any joint stuff can be dangerous,
