I took my 4 year old jumping to aintree unaffil showjumping, for his 2nd ever show/ outing!
We turned up at around 2ish and entered the senior clear round. Went and tacked him up and got on. Now last time he went he had to be led into the warm up as he was sooo scared. (bless) This time he walked straight in!!

Warmed up well, and felt really calm, and hadnt spooked at a thing. It was as if he remembered the last time he went!

My turn to jump. Trotted into arena and he jumped when they rang the bell! Cantered to first fence staying steady and together, really holding the canter himself now.
He jumped everything perfectly, really staying on a lovely rhythem. Finished clear and was beaming!

Waited for the 75cm class. Warmed up as was 2nd to go. Again he went in and jumped fab. Really listening to me and focused on his jumping. Just had a little wobble at fence 9 as he didnt realise we were jumping it! (my fault forgetting to turn with leg!) He jumped it tho even tho we were far off! Finished with a clear!

Had come to show with my trainer on a 6 horse lorry or babies, he was the only one that jumped clear! - so we decided not to stay for jump off. It was 5pm already!!

So cant wait for next outing. And to my question, when do i know if he's ready to tackle a b.nov??
