My little dog is approaching 10 and is a jr x
I've had him since 4/5 weeks old and barking has never been a problem, he barks if someone knocks the door or the window cleaner comes etc- normal dog guarding his territory.
He's always been vocal at exciting times, going for a walk is deafening as are car journeys (although this has improved) again not barking but an awful cry/howl/screaming noise.
Not ideal but we've coped by being totally ready to leave the house before he knows what's happening!
Recently however he's started to bark... A lot!
He barks when I get home from anywhere at me, even when I'm in the house with him or saying hello to him, he barks at food time, if I look at him(!!) for too long, for attention, when he's had enough attention, the list go's on!
He loves to play but even that's too barky now!
The last few mornings I've had to get up and come downstairs early because he's started barking at 6am.
Any ideas!

I'm sure others will be along with more detailed suggestions than me, but I think as with any behaviour you don't want, you have to ignore it! If he barks for food, he waits to get fed. Ignore the kerfuffle and feed when he's quiet. Get a mate to knock on the door, and you tell him to be quiet. When he's good, he gets a treat etc. Have you been obeying the summons more than you used to with the barking? Presume there are no problems health wise. I used to clap my hand over our pups' muzzles and growl 'quiet' at them, which did work, but they were pups so not sure it will translate!
