Just finishing up santas sack, and at the last minute thought, I know !! My daughter might like a my little pony.

I actually walked passed them as they are unrecognisable!!!

Does anyone else feel sad that even this toy has been tarted up? :(

It's a 2011 special edition and it's not quite how I remember them looking. ;)

ETA. This one is horrible!

What's going on in the world! Children should be children! Don't get me started :S i've lost count the amount of times ive had to turn the tv over in the eve due to inappropriate half naked celebrities, tut tut!

When I was little, I was given this Breyer horse (still have him now ;) well not the one in the photo as I stole that from google and mine only has one ear) much better than MLP, at least new Breyers still look like horses. :p

That was always my problem with MLPs! They just didn't look like ponies, they looked like pink and purple barbie-ponies.

I didn't want my daughter (born 1985) to have one, but gave in eventually. But I'd have been happy for her to have a Breyer. :)

What the **** have they done to them?! That second one Faracat/Meowy Catmas posted doesn't even look very horse-like! Bring back the old versions, atleast you could tell what they were!!!

For kids horse toys, Breyers are nice, maybe when she's a bit older and if she likes that kind of thing, look into Julip Horses, I used to collect them when I was younger and they're lovely :)

My youngest daughter has been collecting the old My Little Ponies from boot sales. I think she's nearly got the whole set of the original 1984 ponies. The new ones are uuuuuuuuglyyy!

The eldest collects Breyer horses but they are damned expensive!

I used to love MLP, (part of me still does!). I managed to get my daughter 24 in a job lot last year for £15. Some were the old ones I knew, some were slightly more modern, but nothing like the ones these days. My favourite was AppleJack - I remember his appley bum!! Why I took mine to a car boot sale 20 years ago I'll never know. :(
Modern toys have 'murdered' our old great classics. The kids of today don't know how unlucky they are.

Ditto all of the above, I feel so sad for her, she will be 6 next week!!!! And that is bad enough :(

Although I try soo hard to keep her small and innocent, she is soo grown up in soo many ways, not by my doing, I insist, they only channel she watches is cebeebies, so where do they get it from??

Well they look nothing like the 'Cotton Candy', 'Applejack' and 'Bow tie' ponies that I had in the 80's. Plus I remember the MLP Pony Parlour and Show Stable that mum brought me from a car boot, again in the 80's.

The knew ones are a bit glammed up! and skinnier!

Im so glad im not the only one who thinks this!!! Was shopping on tuesday with friend for my daughter and walked past them and we were like OMG what have they done!!! Ive have some of the 'normal' MLP for her though so its only a recent revamp!!!

TBH i was totally shocked with most the kids toys shes asked for zhu zhu pets from santa, so went to the shops to get some (thats after i had to post on FB to find out what they were:eek:) and picked up this box set at the 35 quid i was shocked enough on that only to find out these dodgy hamsters are not included and they was another 12 quid for each one and the set thingy needs about 3-4!!!!

Gone are the couple of pound stocking fillers!! Bar colouring stuff you cant really get anything under a tenner and evne then its cr@p!!

Although i found myself a lovely deal on robinsons a nice soft pony that neighs and swishes its tail it comes with some grooming stuff and a stethoscope and a pretend injection! Its helpng urge my daughter to be a vet so she can look after me well in my old age!!!!Which seems to be coming quicker than i want!!!;)

I loved the old ones! They were my favorite things to play with in the pool or bath! I had a lot of the 'baby' ones. I had the seahorse ones too! I want to know where they are.....I hope they haven't been thrown out (she says, at the age of 21...)

The new ones are vile, following the trend of bratz obviously, bug eyes, long legs, doesn't look remotely like what it's meant to be....

Nooo, obviously :p Imagine, ha!
They were distinguishable as a horse, more so than the new ones though, they had the right shaped head just about. The new ones just looks like aliens imo.

I've just looked at Annielusian's photos and I see what you mean. The old ones were recognisable as sort of cartoon ponies. The modern ones are, like you say, like aliens.

They look like those poor little mini ponies...I'm not sure what they're called, but those REALLY small ones that don't often live long.

 I don't know what those are, but sorts like a tragic attempt to produce living MLPs.

If I were you I'd check carefully what I had in that box, we bought a couple for our dog to play with at a car boot, I just googled them and two were worth a bit of money, sold one for nearly £10.00 on Ebay the other for £8.00, not bad for a 50p buy. They both went to the US apparently collecting them is big business over there!

I hate what they are doing with kids toys nowadays but these shops are great for traditional toys and other gifts.
