Ive got my daughter old lead rein pony out on loan? I think they possibly wantto buy her.

The 2 reasons i loaned her were, atfirst my daughter wouldnt let me but dont think she would be as bad now as shes been out on loan almost a year and also loves her new pony. also put her out on loan last winter when things werent selling as now!!

Now i wouldnt let her go cheap so i figured if they want to buy her they can buy her at a price i think shes worth when horses are selling otherwise im happy to keep her out on loan till things pick up!

Even if they sent her back i know i would have no problems loaning her again as shes the best lead rein pony you could ask for. Shes perfectly behaved you can take her anywhere, i ahd a 3 and 4 year learn on her, they can handle her, my daughter showed in hand as a 4 year old. SHe lunges perfectly. You can let the children off and shell follow you round like a dog in walk and trot. Shes not a first ridden, but is a great second pony. The intetion was i would have her back once my daughter did the trastion but shes to big for her now!!!
She looks after herself really no food will live in or out no shoes up to date with everything. Gallops over when called, loads into anything. Would hack down a motorway.

I know in the current market shes not worht much but how much could i ask the loaners for as i would be happy not to sell her till the market improves??

a) do you WANT to sell her?
b) WHY do you want to sell her?
c) have they ASKED if she is for sale?

as for the price - my knowledge of what small lead rein types are fetching, is somewhat limited now!

£800 perhaps?

I would be quite happy to sell her, espeacially to them theyve had her nearly ayear on loan. I wont use her again as shes too small for my daughter and i dont have neither am i planning any more children, and shes only 9 so to young to be retired for me to pet. And to be honest i could do with the cash right now (couldnt we all hey).

Yes text them to see all was well ect. and to arange a visit over xmas hols, and she said shes been amazing been doing PC stuff, and do i want to sell her yet.

Yes i know there not fetching alot right now, hence why i loaned not sold as did want what i orignally paid for her back, paid 1200 without tack but things were selling well then. I dont want to sell for less than i paid which was why i loaned while the market was rubbish. Ive told them this too.

I just dont know whether its reasonable to say well i want this for her but im happy to carry on loaning. I presumed theyd keep her till theyd outgrown then i would sell her when the market picked up i didnt think theyd buy her as shes small and the child will outgrow in the next year or 2 although they have a 2 year old in the wings?? Im all confused!!!

How old is she/how big? Is it the pony in your sig?

I'd say about £1200 for what you describe. To me, a pony that is a good lead rein/second pony is not worth as much as a LR/first ridden pony - they're the ones that are really worth their weight in gold.. We sold a similar type for £850 this summer, with tack. We were just glad to find it a great home in this climate. If they're nice people, and the pony is doing well I'd give them a nice price. OR you could bump your price up as they already love the pony, so you've got them over a barrel! I turned down £1500 for the pony the summer before from the people that were loaning her as I didn't think they'd be the best home for her (she was at our yard whilst on loan..)

No the pony in my sig is my daughter current pony. Totaly agree about the LR/ 1st pony and LR/ second pony.

Shes 11hh ish , 9 years old. Lovely pretty type did very well showing, also got an amazing jump. Yer they are nice people, and do love her but cannot afford to let her go for less than i paid (problem with daughter dad and maitenance) and also boguht from my daughters savings so whatever i get would go on paying her current ponies livery upfront.

I dont want to massivly bump up her price cos they love her but would like the 1200 back i paid but they would have the tack theyve got with her in that and i got her without tack.

Normally I'd say you can't expect to get what you paid for a horse back, its just not how things work, they age, sometimes they go up in value, sometimes down etc. But in your case including tack I'd say 1200 sounds reasonable. I wouldn't wait until the market picks up, as at some point she will depreciate due to age, and in the mean time anything could happen i.e. she could get injured or develop a problem which reduces her value anyway.

I'd offer her to them at 1200. Especially as you now know they are decent owners for her - no guarantee if you sell her to someone else without loaning first.

Yer totaly agree although she has improved so much since we had her, she was very green when we got her quite a few years ago, we bough her for her cos her temperment is amazing and has the abilty to make the most nervous youngest ride fell safe and shes done loads now includung pc, so if the market and decreased i could have probaly got more for her. Shes only 9 aswell so plenty of years left in her!!!!
I dont want to make a profit though just get back what she cost, and i would be happier sending where shes been loaned first, one of the many reason i done it first.

I will put it to them and see what happens will then broach the subject with daughter!!! Although she may be alright as shes been gone nearly a year, and would go for one last visit i think to say goodbye!!
