My lovey 6yo rescue cat Timmy lost a hell of a lot of weight, and wasnt eating, took him vets and he is severely jaundice,
I took the option of having bloods done and took him home,
Results came back this morning,
His Bilirubin levels are above 513 (this is as high as their test goes and his levels should be between 2 and 20) Meaning his bile ducts are blocked, His blood test also shows indication of inflammation and a severe infection of the Liver, Pancreas and Small intestines,
This is an indication of Liver Fluke, although it could be a number of other things,
They can only give him a 50/50 chance with treatment because it is so severe and can only tell me prognosis is bad.
I think I know what I will do, He is a young cat, and its unclear if he will have lasting damage or if treatment will even help him, although would appreciate experiences with this.
What is also very concerning is Liver Fluke is contagious to humans, and he has been in the house around us all including my 1 & 5yo, I am not concerned we could have picked it up, before I speak to my GP is there a test for this?
Any advise welcomed.
