hi, about 8 months ago when i was grooming my mare she started snorting at the top of my head and sniffing around my head. i didnt think much about it tacked her up and started to ride. she was very tense and kept slinging her head about and trying to turn round. i got off and within a 1min i started to get i migraine. l have suffered with these since i was 12 and get head pain, sickness and loose my vision. i got her untacked and came in as fast as i could to take my tablets. well a few months later the same happened only this time i took the hint and took my tablets just in time. whilst i got a bad headache i didnt loose my vision and become sick. then last week whilst i was poopicking my mare came hurtling across the field and began snorting at my head and sniffing it, she followed me down the field and waited at the gate for me to come back after taking my pills. she then sniffed my head once and seemed happy and walked away . again i only got a bad headache rather than a migraine. does anyone else have a horse that does the same and i wonder how she knows. arent horses great, they let us ride them have fun with them and they tell us when something wrong.she has saved me from three migraine .:D

Lovely story. I've heard abt dolphins making a fuss of pregnant people (they can 'see' the baby with echo location!) and cats/dogs being able to sniff out cancers but I'm impressed your horse is that sensitive to what must be quite subtle changes in your body. Shows just how in tune the two of you are!

That's amazing! Maybe I should buy a horse... :) Any excuse. I wonder how she can tell from so far away?

Rupert Sheldrake has a bit about this kind of thing in his books, if you're interested. I've heard of animals "finding" cancers and diagnosing schizophrenia, but never migraines.
