This is her a couple of days after getting her in September. She was on the poor side and I was worried if she looked like this just coming out of Summer how she would be through winter.

This is the end of a very long and wet winter, still in her winter woollies. It took so much to keep her weight on, masses of haylage, unmollased beet, grass nuts, linseed and top spec senior balancer. I actually think she even put some on through winter.

This is her in the last couple of days, mid moulting and looking a lot better. Still room for improvement but she is approximately 18.

And a head shot. I love her to pieces and even though she is older and not the easiest when ridden, I am so glad she is mine and I can spend the rest of her years caring for her. She is only up to light hacking but I just enjoy her company.

She looks a very sweet girl... But looks a lot older in the last picture than the first ..how old is she ? And I'm glad she has u to spend the rest of her years with :)

What a lovely post :) it's so nice to see an older horse finding a new home.

Personally I'd ditch the top spec and feed a good mineral/ vitamin supplement like pro hoof or pro balance alongside yea-sacc.

Can she eat her haylage ok and is she able to eat the short grass? I'm sure you are already but I'd be extra vigilant about dental health. If she struggles at all I'd offer lots of grass/ hay alternatives.

She's a lovely looking girl :)

She looks very sweet and a she's a very lucky girl to have an owner who obviously cares so much about her. :)

I found that the key with my old TB, was making sure that she has ad lib forage throughout the winter. I set up a hay feeder, so that she (and the other horses) never ran out of hay.

She has good teeth luckily, they are checked every 6 months. Maybe she looks younger in the first one as irs summer and she has her full summer coat rather than mid moulting? Her age is a estimate as she dosnt have d.o.b in her passport so she could be older. We were very lucky and got a haylage cut from our land so she has constant acess to this and lots of turn out. I give her topspec senior as it has the added joint supplement, do you think giving it seperate would be more beneficial? I am so glad I gave her a home as I have no doubt it would of been the meat man otherwise.
