Failed her strangles test

she she's got have a weeks worth of penicillin then be re tested next week. so fingerscrossed.

just a quick question, should i be worried bout giving her penicillin? i've only have her 8 weeks and she been very poorly in that time, my other tb hadn't an allergic reaction (to something else) and that was horrible. i'm just worrying to much?

Oh dear, you have been very unlucky by the sounds of it.

Has your mare had abcessess from the Strangles? I have always understood that antibio's will surpress the virus and it should be left to run its course with lots of tlc. However, question your vet and take their advice - they should know what they're doing (hopefully).

What was the problem with your other TB?

she has the abcess and been 35 days clear from clincal signs, the antibotics is to clear any trace of the virus away so that we have a better chance of getting a negative result.

my other tb had an allegic reation to the clipper blades but it was awful he came out in a big rash and it just keeped getting bigger and bigger, he looked like he wanted to through himself on the floor.

i'm not having a great time lately with these 2. i think i must be keeping my vets in business this year!!

speak to your vets about the penincillin! what about get some vi sorbin or redcell something like that to boost her up again!
