To my horror this morning I have discovered both my minis have got lice :( they don't seem to be absolutely crawling with them so I'm hoping I've caught it early.

Can anybody advise the best way to treat? They are both 10 months old and without exaggerating their coats are about 3" thick! They are kept at home so I don't have the facilities to wash and dry them so I guess that leaves me with a powder? Or is there an equivalent to cat/dog Spot On for equines?

I'm not sure where they have picked them up from, they share the field with my llama so if she is also infested could they have got them from her? They don't have any close contact with each other, so I'm unsure how they would transfer from llama to pony. The only other animal they come in to contact with is our 3 chooks who are free range in their field, but again they don't touch one another.
I will need to investigate the llama to see if she is also infested but unfortunately she 'do' human contact unless offered a very large bucket of carrots, and even then she's touchy!

Any ideas/advice most welcome :)

Deosect all and you can wash them just use a bucket with warm water and towel dry and put in a box with straw and lots of hay if it is really cold, but rather than than lice, or speak to vet about switch.
