went up after work last night and someone had brought him in as he was acting very colicy so got the vet and she did a rectum examination and a reflux test. reflux was good as no gunk came out but his rectum examination showed he had an impact! Was told to wait a few hours but he just got worse so he went to leahurst and they did test and said his spleen and pancrease were very out of place! They said they would leave him a few hours as werent really sure what was wrong! Anyway they put him in his stable and he was bad trying to roll and kicking his belly so went ahead and operated on him to find a hernia blooking his small intestines they tried to remove it they got most of it and took out 10cm of his small intestine. He is now in a critical condition the next 48 hours are very crucial to his survival! I went up to see him this afernoon and he whinnied at me but not himself i just hope he is strong enough to get through this! Please send positive vibes as i am so worried and just dont what to do! We got it just intime it was so close to bursting!

It's so worrying, isn't it...but he sounds like he's doing well if he can whinny.
One of mine had colic surgery a couple of months ago, was given 50% - 70% of recovery (rare colic type) and is now back out in the field with her mates, bouncing, so I want to wish you all the luck.
If you want to discuss post colic care stuff, PM me.
