So, generally I do and today, apart from keeping my trousers up, it also helped me catch a lose 'runaway'!
One caught big bay horse in his stable 'attire' later - picture me leading said 17h+ hunter with my belt around his neck down a narrow country lane for 400m (only just reached!). I knew where he came from (least I hope I returned him to the right place
), left my car blocking the lane - and perhaps his escape route? and we wandered up a unknown-to-me drive, straight into the stable yard (privately owned), not a soul about. Saw 'his' broken stable door on the left, open stable door with other 'night attire' on it straight ahead, so popped him into that. I doubt it was his own bedroom, but safer than anything else obvious. Trouble that I soon realised was that this bedroom had someone else's tea in the manger, he liked that tea! I scooped out several handfuls into a handy bucket, and firmly locked both bolts! Walked back down to my abandoned car, and called my boss who will contact the 'owners' on my behalf! Thankfully he was a good boy to lead 'belt style'!
Think I did the right thing?
