His name is Foxy .

When Shane Our GSD was pts just over a year ago .... My mum was heartbroken she had said that she would never get another dog, I could notice within those weeks after loosing Shane that she was getting more depressed, the same year her brother and sister passed away within months of each other , My mum needed something to look forward too . So I eventually got her talked around to visiting one of the rescue centres, She surprised me one evening when she rang me to tell me she needed to talk to me, I had wondered why she couldn't talk to me on the phone, So me rushed like an edjit into my mums, Met my mum at the door, she told me to come and close the door and brought me to the sitting room, Opened the door to be greeted by ....

Foxy ! .

Well ... these days my mum is happier in her self, She and foxy walk 7 miles every morning, She gets herself out of the house and back into a familar routine that she had with shane .
Shane will never be forgotten and my mothers words ... " no dog will ever be as good as shane "

He's really cute and what a heart-warming story. As CaveCanem said, they can be real lifelines.

Sorry if I'm wrong but was it not you that worried that e.g. since her depression caused your mother to want to stay indoors, she wouldn't pass the rescues home check?

If I'm not wrong, it is even better to think that she now is out walking "7 miles every morning" and that she has managed to deal with him being terrified with cars, so well that he now can walk past them.
Either way, onwards and upwards but it sounds as if your mother and Foxy has already came quite a bit along the way.

Oh well, whoever that was, I hope it went as well for the other person as it did for your mother, I can't imagine it can have gone any better.

I'm still impressed that they walk 7 miles every morning and glad that they've already came a big bit on the way about his car-fright.
