I had a clear-out of all of the horsey things I've collected since getting my first horse in the UK four years ago and I'm shocked at how much there was.
Or should I say still is?

I got rid of ten numnahs - I've kept 19.
I got rid of one set of bandages - I've kept 6.
Rugs? sold one - not even going to attempt to count all of the ones I have left. probably 35-40 plus show rugs.
Boots? 6 full sets of tendon/fetlock plus overreach, xc boots and 2 sets of smb's.
I've put 11 different bits up on eBay... kept 2 I might use.

Please tell me I'm not the only one :redface3:

You do realise that within a couple of weeks you will fall off the wagon, and replace everything with lovely shiny brand new ones that you just had to have.xxx.

You aren't the only one - one never knows when 29 numnahs will come in handy :) I can't bring myself to dispose or my old Pennwood Lightweight saddle, although it has been far too hard to sit in for many years.

If you think your hoard is bad you should see mine. I have pushing 25 rugs, around 15 saddle clothes, 4ish bridles and probably over 10 sets of boots (I only ever use one)

I should add I only have one horse, I can't bring myself to throw anything away, what if I need it!!

I have 37 bits - not odd I suppose til learn that 34 of them are loose ring double jointed snaffles...

Haha! I'm terrible for bits too, I have dozens of them. Some I've never even used. For example, I found a kimblewick in my tack trunk the other day. I've never had a horse that might even vaguely require one, so why on earth do I own one?! Haha!

Erm... yeah, pretty much :tongue3:
I think I've already spent the money I made selling things on Ebay. The big man got a sparkly new browband from Equiture, which I've been drooling over for weeks. :redface3:

Exactly! One of the bits I bought back when I had my first horse (nearly ten years ago now) is being used on Dad's horse so you never know when things will come in handy. :wink3:

Omg I think I hate u - I'd never heard of equiture before today and now I have to have one .( or seven)... This could get very very very expensive..

OMG you must have bought a numnah every other month!

I, on the other hand, seem to hoard saddles, which of course are worth keeping hold of, even though they will not be used again until I'm a grandmother.

I blame princess sparkle and nikki mariet - it's their faults for posting pictures of their lovely bay boys wearing seriously sparkly browbands :tongue3:
My excuse is that bling is needed to improve our terrible flatwork :wink3:

in my defense, most of the nuu-med ones are nearly ten years old (and still going strong).
And we wash numnahs every 2-3 days depending on how hard the horses are worked so obviously I *need* to have enough to rotate between three horses and the washing machine :wink3:

ETA: I forgot to count the four numnahs I'm using at the moment so make that 16 everyday numnahs :redface3:

LOL!

See, you are already half way to persuading yourself that you need to replenish your sold ones ;-) This seems like a good plan - have you thought about the new bright coloured ones with matchy bandages?

This week I have thrown away bridle parts too past it and dangerous to use. *polishes halo*.

I have had these items (in the same condition) for about 15 years *halo slips*.

I got rid of the bright ones - less temptation to buy matching bandages. :tongue3:
although I may have spent a few hours searching for the new eskadron next generation matchy set but with matching ears instead of bandages. :redface3:

I do not need any more new numnahs ...
I do not need any more new numnahs ...
or do I? :biggrin3:

Well, 16 numnahs between three horses is only really five each, and that means they don't yet have one for every day of the week. And I guess some of these will be competition ones so only kept for best.

Hmmmm there's some nice new winter colours out that might be worth a look............

erm... nope - competition numnahs aren't included in that number. the two that compete regularly have two each and then there are 4 'nice' ones to share between the three of them. :rolleyes3:

#fartoomuchhorseycrap :redface3:

It does sound like you need to recount doesnt it :). we cant count how many we have but the kids do have 6 equines so that makes it ok ..........

We have every saddle, bar one, we have ever had, and we have horses for
about 40 years! Some horses we have had have had more than one each! They do come in handy though, as one we had from about 30 years ago will fit our new 3year old. :)

I don't think anyone needs to know I've got a wardrobe full of 'things', and a chest of drawers full of bits, stirrups, spurs and other random horsey 'metal' things! Honestly don't really know what I've got, but it is a lot. I don't however, have a hoard of turnout rugs... strange as mine are out 24/7! Travel rugs/show rugs and sweat rugs = plenty, so it makes up for it. I have sold four out of 9 saddles though .. only took some 15 years to do so, but did it i did! (only one horse/one pony here).
We're normal!! ;)
