well what can i say, i thought it was the end tonight! skittles was being a little horror! he was quite fresh as it had been a week and a half since he was last ridden, i took him out on a hack and ended up getting into a battle with him, which i know i shouldnt have! he was playing up and at each obsticle i managed to push him past it. he was obviously testing me to the extreem and instead of walking he started hopping along in small paces which i didnt mind too much as the wind was getting stronger. we came close alongside the river and he was just getting worse! there was a herron sitting on a log on the opposite river bank and as we got on a diagnal with it it took off i expected something terrible but he just stopped to look and i thought aww bless him what a brave boy! just allong the path getting nearer and nearer the river he saw a black bird and oh no scary what ever should he do, so he bolted
i managed to hang on for a bit and then pull him into trot but when i looked down at him i saw that he had locked his jaw, i had to jump off onto the grass and i could'nt hardly stand because my knees were shacking that much! and this is about the third time this has happend.
we well danced home and when we finaly got there he decided it would be fun to barge out of his stable and not want to be caught in the end i had to walk away and let my mam deal with him.
i've decided that his saddle is hurting him because it seems to be ever since i bought my new wintec vsd and it does press into his back a bit much than it should!
so tomorrow, providing it's not too windy still, i'll hack him out in his old saddle and hope all is fine and dandy again, if it's not that then its teeth and back check time and then last resort is retirement, as he's reached the grand old age of 17, in a 7acre feild with his old besie mate(my mams old horse)
so fingers crossed for tomorrow!
sorry that was so long!
