I'm laid up at the mo with a broken foot so relying on hubby and friends to do the horses for me.

I'm a bit of a control freak so find this VERY hard and am constantly hobbling out on my crutches to supervise, (read criticise) my oh's mucking out, watching him take them out to the field and in again, change rugs, etc etc.

Yesterday I was watching him thru the window when he took them in and as he passed one of the other horses, it set off bucking down the field. The mare he was leading got such a shock, (she was half asleep), that she fell right over on her side! I thought she'd had a flippin heart attack! But no she got up looking a bit sheepish but was fine.

Then this morning, again watching out the window, he turned out my black mare who promptly cantered off, bucked and fell right on her backside! My nerves are in shreds!!

Maybe I shouldn't watch anymore! It's driving me crazy!!!

Poor you, I feel your pain. Nobody else does it quite the same do they? Just really try not to look, at all. I'm equally bad, I rang my trusted & experienced friend whilst in the labour ward to issue instructions on what rug to use that day, & 3 days later just had to sort my bankings out. Not much help but hope you are sound & able to come back into light work soon!

Lol! Thanks :) I've just been out and nagged him over the tiny bits of hay and little bits of flaky poop he's left in their beds. He says they wont die but I beg to differ!! :)

I am in a similar situation as I have a bad back and can't do much with my horse at the moment. Luckily my OH has stepped in and will muck out (if horse has been in at night - though we try to keep him out 24/7 as it is easier all round), and also rides at the weekend. I have stopped complaining about the mucking out (he is actually more OCD than me about it) as I'm hoping he will carry on doing it when my back is better. But I do complain that he is riding my cob too fast - and when I am better and riding again we will be galloping all over the place as that is what he has got used to with OH! But cob seems happy and OH is loving it (he has even signed up for RC camp as I can't go this year). He is also talking about getting his own horse...oh dear, what have I started?
