Just wanted to share the news with you all really! I've finally purchased myself a "horse"!!! :D I got a Miniature Shetland for my birthday in May who I love dearly, but after years of dreaming about riding around the lanes and competing on my own horse I've finally made that dream a reality!!!

I would have ideally wanted something ready to go BUT once I met my boy I just had to have him. His name is Alfie and he is 10 months old with a temperment to die for!!! Mum is a Shire x Clydesdale and Dad a Welsh Sec D. I know both parents and they are both sooo gentle!

I will be honest and say that I haven't had any personal experience with raising a youngster but I have been around horses all my life! However, any help and advice would still be much appreciated!! May I add that I have also got a lot of people around me who have a lot of experience with raising youngsters and are willing to help me out at any time just so you know I've not thrown myself in at the deep end with no help :)

If anybody could tell me how to upload pics, I will happily do so...I just don't have a clue how to!

xx

Well I've tried with the pictures before:(

Go to www.photobucket.com or other photohosting site. Upload your photos to there, resize to not more than 700 x 200 pixels. Copy the code. Go to User Control Panel, find Edit Signature, paste in [IMG] code and Bob's your Uncle.[/QUOTE]

IF you just want to upload pics you need to resize the pic in photobucket to something like 640 x 480 (or it stretches the screen, which is considered rude), click on the insert image button (second from right in reply box, looks like two mountains and the sun), paste the IMG code in there.

IF you want to stick more than a couple of photos up you should make a thread in the Picture Gallery and put them in there.

Thank you for your help AGAIN! I tried to use photobucket yesterday but the website was soooo slow and I really didn't have a clue what I was doing! When I click on the insert image button it comes up with a box for me to post a link in. But the pictures I have are saved on my computer not on the internet if you get what I mean?!

OOOOOH CONFUSED.COM!!!! :(

But as soon as I can get pics up guys...I will :D

What do you guys think of his facial markings?

New rug :)

There you go! Pics really don't do him justice though...I forgot to mention previously that I have known him since he was 8 weeks old and these pics are not that recent. Newest one is of all 3 in the field which was taken week and a half ago

Oh cloe he's georgeous... I'm sure raising him and backing him / breaking etc is well within your capabitlities , the most important thing is that you love him and care for him , everything else will just fall into place cos he knows you so well and should trust you to guide him... my friend had a really good book to hand ( she was taking on her first youngster too ) i'm pretty sure it's by richard maxwell and is called .. from birth to backing , and pretty much has a step by step guide into handling your baby and what to try and achieve , at what age , if you get my drift.. good luck with your boy!

Thank you! :D I haven't ever seen markings like his before...even if he wasn't microchipped (which he is) I'm sure his markings would help me find him!! x

omg!!!!!!!!!!!! he's gorgeous!!! he's another one on my list!!!!! now where could i hide him lol xx

Lol, if you want to hide him just shove him in an area where there's some grub and he's happily feed his face all day! :D x

I love his face! Specially his wee pinky schnozz :D

May have to add that book to my wish list this year then ;) I'm hoping that Alfie will take to being backed very easily as he is so placid and we have such a good bond, but you never know how things will work out I suppose :) last resort would be to call in the professionals.. although I really would like to do it myself as it'd be such an achievement! :D x

You'll be fine - meant to say that it looks like you've got the OH well in line so the new boy should be a push-over!:D
