Right so I have decided Jessica has now grown sufficiently to be my groom :) SO here she is with the wonderful Vincent Van Gogh, my exracer. We were off shopping yesterday evening, hence the non horsey attire, but after a quick lunge I thought I would make use of the sunshine and give him a quick bath :)

NB I do normally insist on Jessica wearing a hat when leading properly... this was just an impromptue photo op :)

My children are my personal grooms! I have to do everything while they're at school so as soon as holidays come around I don't lift a finger:)

Mines 7 but I still insist anything I do with hers is returned eg I empty her barrow she makes my feeds etc. Hopefully i'll have her equally well trained in a few years lol.

my daughter is 11 and still too small to be of any real use!!! she was good at making the feeds up until a mouse pinged out the bag at her:eek::D took me a week to get her back in the feedroom lol, she can't carry more than half a bucket of water but i have one of those camping water barrels that roll and she's capable of pulling that:p She can help groom the 15hh boy but the other 2 are too big

Oh yes I have a child groom too, she's only 7 but very usefull I was lunging the other day and came back to 3 very well skipped out stables waters filled haynets had been hung(I did have to redo them without her seeing) yard swept and 2 groomed ponies I was very impressed bless her!!

Lovely :D :D

It's great as they grow up and become so very useful :D :D. Mine now can and does do everything I need regarding the neds :D. Even the non-horsey one can Pessoa, goom, feed, tack up, and spot a lame horse from fifty yards away ;)

...Just not sure what I'm going to do when University looms large...

wow zoelouisem I would be impressed too!!!!! Jessica has her own pony, but this is the first time she has dared lead my boy as he is 16.3hh and she finds his size a little daunting. He is a total gentle giant though, Jessica's pony is far more naughty!!!!!!!! btw Jessica is 10 but tall for her age!

I was very impressed that day!!!
Although there was motive we were having a takeaway that day and the quicker were done the quicker she was getting her chips!! Lol but whatever works!! Hehe
I have always encouraged her to do the jobs from the day she has ridden, I'm of the opinion if they can get on and ride they can muck out, may not be a good job at first but we all started somewhere hey!!! But mine would be daunted leading a 16.3 too, the groomed ponies she did her self were 12h first ponies so a little easier! :-)
