My new horse's halo slipped today!

I went out on my new horse today (my first solo hack), things were going brilliantly. No spooking, he was being as good as gold. When we passed one of the fields owned by my YO, about 10 Shetlands came running up to the fence. My horse turns and runs off with me down the road!

So the big 15.2 hairy cob has a fear of little people which will be a nightmare for him really as the YO owns about 20 Shetlands!

What is it with horses and Shetlands?

You're right, I will ask the YO if I can put him in the field with them for a few days. Hopefully that will get him over his fear.

exactly the same happened to me the other day!

java saw two miniatures running towards him and he shot off in the opposite direction!

we have some shetlands at work that think theyre as big as the 15.2 cobtype things we have so he has a right to be scared of them

My 17hh was terrified of minis! But yet fine with big dogs..

He he, I used to look after a 17hh IDx that was scared of shetlands.

YO was taking her daughter for a hack on leadrein and 17hh scaredy cat bolted across 3 acres jumped fence out of field and then proceeded to jump the gate onto the yard and went and hid!
