My new mare.....

okay, so i have a lovley grey mare who is 6. She can be lovley but sometimes can be extreemly marish, i love her to peices even though it has only been a few days!

she is used to being ridden by only one person, and this person rolls her ankles to get her to move on, this seems to be the only way she moves. do you htink i should try& start riding this way or should i ride the way i noramlly do, and hope that my mare follows slowley? i hold a cop but dont use it, if i do it's for a slight tap on the sholder....

any ideas? thanks alot

Does she know voice commands? If so use your voice along with your normal aids. She'll soon learn that way. Good luck.

Sorry, havent been on here at all latley but yes. she dose& i have been using them- she's and ex racer so dosent quite know what's what but we are getting there

When I first got Obie (newly broken 4 year old) I literally had to pony club kick him to get him going so I completely started from scratch. I taught him my voice commands on the lunge, and then would give him those voice commands while riding. Now he's used to my aids.
