As my young horse sustained HUGE splints when she was being rested and needs time off, i thought i would go for something older, that i can 'kick on' with as have lost most of 2012 due to injury.
Meet Monty, a 7 yr old ex racer who i drove a 7 hour round trip to ireland for!!!
He doesnt look like much i admit, but he an amazing p2p record, no blemishes (amazingly) and hopefully be as amazing in his new eventing career.
He is in need of some much needed TLC, a bath, cut and blow dry, farrier, worming & a good feed!!
I like to think of him as my very own 'Black Beauty' as he reminds me so much of him!!

Bless him he looks knackered!!! can't wait to see the after pictures. Love black horses, he's going to be lovely x

He's lovely!! Has really kind eyes!
I have a thing for black horses, after a good bubble bath and an appointment with the hairdresser he will be totally stunning!xx

After feeling that it wasnt quite the weather for bubbles, we decided a good scrub (raised sweat with me!!) and tidy up would make a brave difference with him.
I was told he hadnt been ridden in a few months (condition of his feet i'd say not) but sane if didnt prance about. Well my two mares had whipped everything into a frenzy and suddenly grew to about 17hh snorting. I thought lordy what am i going to encounter, i'll either be in timbucktwo or orbit!!
He was a gent, we hacked past tractors, met a group out hacking and he just walked along absorbing everything and chilling on a loose rein. Mum came on the bike as we always do with new horses and he loved it, even when she was going to fall over and grabbed the breastplate......he seems to have a kind soul. I cannot wait to see what his jump is like!!

Imagine what a bit of condition could do!!

I hope an opposition buzz in the making!

Of course i will, i think he will be a diamond in the making....if all goes well.
I cant believe i finally got a black horse......its been a childhood dream!!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments and he really has a kind soul.
You will not believe what he did that evening after a hack. He was out in the field with my miniature for company and we were having a family dinner, it started raining monsoon style and i looked out to check them, he looked as if he was eyeing up the 5ft fence. I was putting my wellies and coat on bolting out the door to try to stop him and by the time i got there he had jumped!!
My mum said she watched it all in complete shock, there is a thorn hedge that back the fence and he wedged himself between it (I do not know how, as its 6ft) and jumped up and sideways from a standstill and tore off across the next field with my other horses. I was in the field so they didn’t gang up on him and give him a kick.
When I got him to the stable he was steaming, I thought I was going to catch a horse sliced to pieces, I was gobsmacked when I was bathing him to find the scratches across his chest did not need stitches and prayed he would be ok.
About 11pm I went out to do last checks and inject him for any infection to catch it early, I pulled him out to walk to see how he was and his off fore was literally dragging. I cannot express how cold my blood ran and the sweat rolled off me, complete shock. It looked as though the shoulder was broke.
I rang the vet (who was in bed) and said he would be ok until the morning but if he could come first thing. I just cried myself to sleep I was that gutted.
My vet came out while I was at work, and worked on him. When I got home he had left bottles and bute and glad to see he was still standing, I really was in pieces expecting him to say the worst. I rang to see what he had done and the vet said he is a very lucky boy and can jump if he came over what he did with only scrapes. The off fore lameness was caused by burst blood vessels and a haematoma on the muscle. Is near hind is swollen from a few cuts and a knock and he looks as though he has been through a cheese grater!!
He needs cold hosed, but as he cant walk as stiff he is getting ice packs strapped to him and injected 3 times a day (bless he’s very good for me).
I cannot believe my luck really and truly no horse would take on what he did. Please send healing vibes and I now need a sponsor of global herbs or botanica.

wow he is gorgeous!! if i was looking id def be interested :) will make someone a cracking horse by the looks of him, i bet he has a fab jump!! i am jealous of whoever buys him :) x
