My nice, relaxing, early morning hack

Decided to get up early and go for a nice early morning hack today. So after dragging Monty up (he was asleep with his friends in the field

) got him tacked up and off we went towards to heath, much to his disgust.
We headed down a lane that turns off onto a bridlepath but just before the turning there were BIG closed road signs

(very scarey if you're a yellow beastie

) so we had to go up through a permissive track. Decided to have a bit of a canter up through as the ground was lovely. Got near the top and the gorse bush was growing across the track so Monty leapt over it

(I don't do jumping

) and then he must of thought that that was quite good fun and leapt in the air and bucked

Naughty boy! So I made him work all the way home although Monty had other ideas and decided to spook all the way home

If that's what having an extra day off does then he can forget having another one

You are so lucky, I would have loved to have gone for an early morning hack but cant and havent been able to for about two years as pony broken and now she has a foal.

Never mind, in three years time maybe I will be able to do the same thing!

Lucky you, I am still recovering from knee op in March, so riding is little and often, and I have hospital again on Thursday.

Could have had a lovely ride this morning too, as our friends dogs are staying with us, and got me out of bed at 6am by barking like idiots.

My horse is a bit of a beast too. No such thing as a relaxing hack on her. I think there have been very few times when she hasn't bolted with me, not too bad when she does it up the hills but not so fun when she gallops as fast as possible down them. Perfect little angel on the roads though!!
