So I posted a little while ago about my little pony who got kicked shortly after getting him. It has been a rollercoaster few weeks!
He is the cutest Exmoor cross Dartmoor. I bought him as he was cheap, I fell for him and my son liked him. I knew it was a bit of a punt as he is green but such a genuine pony.
He got kicked 4 days after arriving. This then became infected and got cellutius. So he was under the vet. As he was so unsettled, is jumpy anyway and does not react well to pain. He had to be sedated to be treated. So every day he had a little bit of sedalin to take the edge off, of course we could not get a seringe in his mouth so put it in a pear for him to eat. This worked well and he got more and more trusting. My puppy ended up eating some of the pear juice dropped by pony so that was another visit to the vet! All this meant I was distracted and missed his jabs date by a week so have to start them again!!
The puppy was fine after a BIG sleep. The pony is sound! We are now getting on. He has been lead off my horse brilliantly. My son has hacked him out on the leadrein, bless him he went past lots of scary things the only thing he hates is drains. He goes very sweetly in the school, has tried to napp a couple of times but as the last pony was a confirmed napper my Son sorted that out with lots of leg etc. He is now trusting us much more and is the first to come over to you in the field.
I don't regret getting him but my bank balance does!! I am still slightly in love with him - best thing about having kids is ou get to have ponies again. No such think as a cheap pony.
