He has succombed to the if you cant beat them join em brigade!!!
Is he feeling ok? does he have man flu???
Next he will be visiting the yard / stable to see what you actually get up too!! Lol
My OH will have nothing to do with the horsey world he has made it very clear from the start of me returning to riding, something to do with his parents flat raced / hunted horses throughout his childhood and he has several dents in his head to prove he used to help out!! Oh well im sure curiosity will get the better of him eventually!!
I managed to get my totally non horsey OH to muck out on 24th & 25th Dec!
He's been to the stables once before but only after the promise of the pub afterwards.
I was feeling a bit poorly and didn't feel up to a full muck out on my own so he offered to help (did a pretty good job actually!)
I do worry that if I did manage to get him to ride he'd catch on pretty quickly and beat me at my own game - he's pretty fit with very good natural balance!
Hmm. He actually DOES have man flu at the moment although he originally said I would never ever get him on a horse. Does this mean if I decide to go shopping for a new horse I need to get one that's suitable for us both? Lol
I'm now trying to find a way to get him onto my sister's ISH.
My hubby was completely un horsey when I met him. He'd never even been near a horse!! However he now has 2 of his own, on of which is a home bred so he is particularly proud of him and he said he is looking forward to breaking him in when he is 4!! Think he def has the horse bug now!!
My OH doesn't ride now and never has but that didn't stop him hopping on board my daughter's 6 year old eventer (the one with a reputation for rearing!), wandering round the yard and then calmly announcing that 'This riding thing is easy. The horse does all the work.'
Mine said he would never go near my horse and then asked to ride him after I'd had him a few months. Silly bf clicked and horse trotted which led bf to panic!
Whilst a hand on the yard would be nice, I quite like having the space to potter around and have a chat without being moaned at for taking too long!
I think it might be catching as my husband announced over xmas that he would come hunting with me next time he is home.
He doesn't ride ( well maybe 2 or 3 times a year ) & when he does he jams his feet into the stirrup irons and wraps the reins around his hands 'for safety'.
I never thought I'd say this but I'm hoping we have some bad weather at the end of Feb so that hunting isn't mounted
mine did that it was just idle threats although i think in his mind he thinks he can get on our foal when shes 3 and miraculously be able to ride her LOL
Mine did that, said he wanted to learn, bred a youngster that he went round telling everyone he would event..... he got fed up and gave up.
He was brave, jumped my big horse but hated being told how to ride by me. Said I made it look easier than it was.
I wouldn't put him off though, as any help down the yard is good
