Poor old chap, I was at the yard ragworting until about 7.30 and all the horses were quietly grazing; my OH & I went to the pub for dinner, and I got a call just after the starter.

His face was absolutely huge  It's been XRayed, and no fractures thank god but he does have to have a hole drilled in his head this afternoon to flush out the sinuses as there was some blood in his nostril this morning.

I think he just enjoyed his trip in the lorry to the vets last week that he wanted to go again ;)

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery - I'm not having much horsey luck at the mo :(

Oh dear, I hope he feels better soon. Oldies don't deserve that sort of thing. My 28 year old, part blind and full of arthritis (don't worry folks, she is quite happy and still enjoying life) is regularly bitten by the field bully and there is nothing I can do about it apart from dress the wounds :(

poor baby
im glad to hear nothing was broken and nothing too seriouse, it could have been so much worse.
speedy recovery for him.
Ive been very lucky that i moved to a livery yard with 3 stables and i just had my horses so my laminatic horse could retire in peice as he often led down more than he stood. xx

Aw no the poor fella....glad there is no fractures or anything! Can I suggest you ask vet to give him a big injection to turn him off trips to the vets and bring him for a roadtrip in the lorry to somewhere else!

Haha - yes, wish there was an injection for that.

Cancelled my insurance on the old boy this year as nothing has happened to him in years except gassy colic which isn't covered anyway; so an expensive trip for me. When they were X-Raying, every time they pressed the button it sounded like the cash register "KerChing!"

He got back home last night & is feeling very sorry for himself. He's not really eating so think I'm going to have to syringe his bute & anti-b's, that will be fun.
