I realise now my old girl is 30, that some things are going to go south !!! but of late she's loosing her top line and under saddle doesn't actually show , but without her saddle its very obvious ~ I don't like the way it's going and wondered if there is anything out their that may help her keep whats she's got left .

She's still in work and Hunter Trailing more than happily and energy isn't needed, she has plenty of that left !!!! My 8 year old ex Racer is better behaved !!

Open to exercising or feed help !

I'd say chances are it's cushings and nothing to stress about if your putting her on the meds it's manageable. Chaste berry is also good I feed it to my oldie.[/QUOT

What do the meds do, for her ? It's just her top line that I've noticed change in the past 2-3 months ... and the tell tale Coat ! other than that she's herself ! I've not had any experience using the meds ... xx

Are they worth it , as I know they're not cheap ? have you had personal experience of using them ? be great to hear your views xx

Chaste Berry ( on the list lol )

No the prascend isn't cheap I haven't used them but I know people who have and said they make such a difference and depends the dosage needed as to cost :)

Chaste berry is like a herbal equivalent apparently. I also feed cinnamon and turmeric with it as the chaste berry can be a strong taste, cinnamon is also recommended for horomone changes and turmeric is good for joints so the three together are like an oldie supplement lol well I think so any way :)

Hope this is useful :)

Thank you ... Anything is useful ! I hate seeing her drop , and I know she's getting on a bit but i still HATE it lol xx

She's been part of my life 23 years so I'll do anything for her ! She's my world ... Thank you xx

She's not fussy about foods and smells I think she's going to enjoy this adventure into new things lol

Def test for cushings. It's unusual for such an old horse NOT to have aome level of it and it's probably been warded off for so long because she's still working.

Get it done asap because, although the muscle can be rebuild, the stretching and dipping of the back and ligaments cannot be undone.

My old mare looks fantastic this year on chastetree berry. Last year she failed to shed her coat properly, and was dropping off weight, and also had the telltale fatty lups above her eyes so put her on chastetree berry from Feedmark. Coat changed within a month and this winter she's still just on 24h turnout. vits and mins and no hard food (she's a retired Sec D broodmare) where previously she was on a fair amount of hard feed and a cup of oil a day just to maintant weight over winter.

Losing it? from your pic, and your words, then an emphatic NO, not yet. It's January, all of us who are ancient are feeling things. It's that time of year, ffs!! :p

Alec. :)
