Well my little Legacy is changing once again. She doesn't even look like her any more - facially she has changed loads and colour-wise, well I think you will be able to see a difference.

Here's my lovely girl, pictured today, at 9 weeks old:

And since I appear to be liking this mottled colour so much.......I bought another one on Saturday. 4 year old Reg. AQHA with Foundation Lines, although he certainly doesn't look it! A bit of good feed and some muscling and within a year I would think he will look just as stocky as my other Foundations. Jet was very much like this when I first bought him and he is almost unrecognisable now.

Introducing the latest member of my crew, "Romeo King Cutter":

OOoooo loving the new horse! Yet another cracking purchase!

Legacy....well she's just getting better and better. Cannot believe how much she has grown, and changed. Adorable all the same.

Is the woodwork around the trough hiding all the drafts/cabling for the heated bit to stop it freezing in winter? Was just musing to myself and wondering if that is the water trough that caused you so much grief for freezing over last year?

Wow she is so grown up now. I didn't realise they change colour so soon.
The new guy is a lovely colour, can't wait to see pics of him later, when he has muscled up abit.

What a cute ickle foalie, love her new colour change. Maybe she will be piebald next

Your new horse is very pretty indeed, cannot wait for the updates on his progress!

Legacy is a credit to you - she is just lovely and from what you say, her character is stunning, too. And the new one will undoubtedly be as good a choice as you usually make. You sure can pick them, can't you?

So.... is she a bay roan?!! What colour is her tail? or is she just her own unique colour?

Bless her...she's beautiful

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments. I think she is a pretty special little girl too.

Yes Patches that is the heated waterer which gave us all the trouble over the winter

. The boarded plinthe is actually sitting on top of a massive culvert which brings the water and electricity lines up to the surface from 8ft down. All the heating elements are in the yellow box.

Legacy has a minky coloured face, light grey body, black dorsal stripe down her back, black mane and her tail has a black stripe going down it, surrounded by silver and orange

She's a star, she really is, and I adore her.

I think she may well just keep us guessing for a little longer LOL!! But no, I think she is going to be just grey in the end.

She has changed so much again!!!

She looks like she has filled out a bit too! Veeerrrrry pretty little girl. She seems as chilled out as ever in the photos. Can't wait for the next installment of colour changing!

Liking the new acquisition too!

She is growing fast - I think she will be one pretty little mare.

Like the new addition. If I didn't have hairies. QH would be high on the list of my choices - but I would want the odd fashioned chunky type and not the ones with too much TB and consequence loss of steady behavior.

Best stallion I met was a QH - so well behaved - totally ignored my TB tart flashing her stuff under his nose as he was not in his covering bridle. Most fantastic temperament and so steady and calm.

How have I missed this until now?!

You are certainly going to have a very interesting collection of baby photos of her aren't you? I rather like the colour she is now, still terribly huggable though whatever colour she is. Have you seen Ezzys other foal recently, how is s/he doing?

Love the new boys colour, do they call it roan here or is it something like a smoky sorrel with chrome? The fixation with colour classification here causes me no end of confusion and amusement, a bay is a bay is a bay, or, in this case, what looks like a strawberry/red roan.

You have mentioned this before Tia, but what exactly does it mean by Foundation Lines please? Zeus's seller said that about him but it rather went over my head.

Thank you everyone. With regards to her colour - who knows? I don't, LOL!! I think it may keep me guessing for some time to come. I am edging towards just grey, but I honestly don't know. Mother is grey, father is tri-coloured bay roan - the colour calculator said she would be grey or roan......and she is! She's both, LOL!!

Theresa; I agree regarding QH's - I'd never have anything else now. They are so unflappable and willing little horses. I also like the chunky working ones which is why I always buy ones with a lot of Foundation lines - they tend to be the more solid of the QH's, not only physically but also mentally....and I like that.

Oh for sure it is interesting; I think I really have to do a collage of Legacy, showing pictures of her through the various colour stages.

Ezzy's other foal is BIG! Much bigger than our little Legacy. I think he is an ugly foal personally; surprising really as his mother is a pretty girl and although Ezzy had an unattractive head when he was younger, it's nice now and he is a nicely put together guy.

Foundation-bred is when they have a high percentage of the old working cattle horses which were used to start the breed off, or had a very large influence over how the breed developed. Yes your Zeus has some nice lines in his parentage.
