The lad (we'll call him S) that come to ride my big baby is a polo player.
He very bravely let my friend (and fellow groom), one of the liveries and me have a polo lesson on his ponies. Even after telling us how much they were worth
My pony (bay) was a little green and stuck to S like glue!
Once we establish steering (neck reining) we were let loose with sticks and balls. I was rubbish as I am left handed and you have to use your right hand. Bless my pony he was kicking the ball for me.
We then had a race, who could hit the ball down the field the quickest. I lost!
So I gave up with the stick and practised my tight turns and flying changes.
We then all changed horses. The liveries horse (black) was really fast but very easy to ride and my friends horse (grey) was quite lazy until S got on her to wake her up.
I was then have a canter about on the black horse when S came galloping up next to me on the bay. I have never gone so fast in my life and I was terrified as I could feel the black pony's front legs slipping as she turned!
All in all it was fab fun and I really hope S will let us have a go again.
When I got home yesterday I was playing with Hattie and she was neck reining and flying changing nearly as well as S's pony ponies! All I need now is the stick and ball and we will be away. Think we may be the only cob playing polo
