My Section A is 10 this year - she has never done anything apart from have foals and be a field ornament until I bought her last October. I've been walking her up the hill and lunging her and decided to try jumping her on the lunge today. She went over the poles no problems then I put up a little cross pole about 1 foot high - she cleared it with about two foot to spare!!
I decided to try loose schooling over a little grid - just poles on the floor and jumping no higher than one foot. She went over them beautifully then kept going and jumped clean out of the arena!!!!!
It was the same height she was! Luckily she cantered down the side then stood at the gate of the school asking to come back in again
She's def staying on the lunge line now
