my little showjumper has a sore on both sides of his mouth where the bit goes, he was in a neue schule beval bit quite simular to the wilkie, but i changed him into a gag 2 days ago as he is quite strong so i thought a stronger bit may help. I went cross country today, when i got off i looked at his mouth and noticed it was really bad! i applied vaseline which i have been doing for the past week before and after riding but it isn't helping. he throws his head up when jumping but this may be because his teeth are due to be done, the dentist is coming out this week sometime. I was suposed to be showjumping tomorrow but i'm not going as i dont want to make his mouth any worse. I'm not going to ride him until next thursday :/ just so it can have time to heal as i have a show next saturday!! what do you think would help this heal quickly, and also what bit should i use?!! i was thinking about using a sweet iron bit, but not sure what it does and what one to get baring in mind he is quite strong! please help mee!!!
